INTAL is to hold a major event on innovation and behavioral economics in Buenos Aires on October 5, 2016

The Institute for the Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean (INTAL), part of the Integration and Trade Sector (INT) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), would like to invite you to its annual flagship event: Regional Integration 4.0: The Next Technological Frontiers and New Global Convergences (link in Spanish), which will take place in the Auditorio Buenos Aires on October 5, 2016.

At the event, renowned global experts will share their experience designing policies that stimulate creativity to address the challenges posed by new forms of integration. Big data, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, behavioral economics, and export diversification will be the core topics at this, INTAL’s annual conference, which will analyze the features of what we are calling Regional Integration 4.0.

Dizzying technological changes are metamorphosing global trade. How can we guide these changes to ensure they improve the lives of Latin Americans? More complex and sophisticated global value chains are blurring the boundary between goods and services. New leaders and new ways of connecting are emerging, and information is being updated every second, placing great pressure on our ability to make good decisions. Infinite possibilities are opening up for production, but new threats are looming for education, the world of work, and social inclusion. How can we build a form of governance that coordinates efforts and sets out a shared regional agenda that will take us towards a form of integration that is enhanced by innovation?

These questions will be the main topics of the event (link in Spanish), with speakers including Facundo Manes (Favaloro University), Simon Ruda (Behavioural Insights Team), Colin Maclay (Digital Initiative at Harvard Business School), Charles Sabel (Columbia University), Martin Rhisiart (University of New South Wales), and Lino Barañao (the Republic of Argentina’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Productive Innovation), among other global and regional experts.

During the events, IDB/INTAL will hold specific masterclasses with players from both the public and private sectors and will present the tools relating to infrastructure, trade, and public opinion that it provides for the region.
